Merry Yuletide in Kos!

Kos is a gorgeous island all year round, but during Christmastime, it becomes a vibrant place, unconditionally permeated with the magic of this favorite holiday! Kos Town is very colorful around Christmas. At the central square of the town, Eleftherias Square, there is a cheerfully decorated Christmas tree, an ice skating rink for some sliding fun, carousels, and other activities for kids, along with a bazaar selling all kinds of traditional Christmas crafts and treats of Kos.

Every year, Kos municipality organizes a series of celebrations, events with fairy tales and plays, carol-singing, folklore dance performances, concerts, and, of course, a surprise encounter with Santa Claus.
Moreover, at the Christmas bazaar, you will have the chance to mingle with the locals, to buy Christmas presents, to sample special local treats, sweets, and drinks, and to take in the festive atmosphere.
There are many holiday traditions in the villages that the locals still keep alive, from cooking local Christmas treats, such as Christopsomo and Melomakarono, and setting up unique decorations to carol-singing from door to door and church praying with the rest of the community.
Shops in the capital town of Kos, stay open late on Christmas Eve, and the several local restaurants around the center of the city keep on serving their special Christmas menus.
